Here are a few things to consider before you buy a rose bush:
1. Know your agricultural zone - A zone map will help you locate your growing zone so you know what is the best time for planting roses in your area.
2. Know your sun exposure - Roses need full sun - 6 to 8 hours a day.
3. Know your planting area and growth habit preference - Do you want tall roses, just one plant or lots? Do you want to see them out your window, or have them climb a fence?
4. Know your flower preference - Rose flowers come in a wide range of sizes, colors, bloom form, bloom habit and frangrance.
5. Know your tolerance for disease - Some roses are highly disease prone and will not do well in certain climates.
6. Know what roses are available where - There are 10,000+ varieties of roses, your local nursery will only have a sampling of what's available. Check out other resources.
