Are you an urban homesteader that enjoys self sufficient ways? Would you lke to raise a little meat for your dinner table right in your own backyard? Raising quail might be the answer. They can be raised in a rabbit hutch in your backyard, basement, garage or deck.
In my research I found that the recommend variety of quail to start with is called the Coturnix. You can raise 6 to 8 per square foot. You buy males and females typically. They start laying eggs in 6 weeks! They can be eaten for meat at 5 to 6 weeks. They are tiny and you would need several for a meal, but the processing sounds very easy.
Here are a few websites with more information to get you started in this homesteading adventure!
