Extraordinary uses for potatoes.
Extract excess salt in soup. Did you go a bit overboard when salting the soup? Cut a few potatoes into large chunks, toss them into the soup while it is still simmering on the stove. When the potatoes start to soften, in about 10 minutes, remove them and the excess salt they have absorbed. The chunks can be saved for another use, such as potato salad.
