Hello there. Sorry I've been missing in action for so long. Moving, phone line problems, and now a non-functional computer have made blogging a bit difficult... such is life.
In the meantime, I've been browsing through my stack of seed catalogs. Oh my, what a list I've made so far! I'll have to scale it down just a tad I believe
.
Have you got your plans made for this year's garden, yet? What new things are you planning to grow? Old tried and true favorites? How about a favorite "recipe" for getting rid of pesky insects, or some other tip? Share something "gardeny" on your blog and leave a comment so we can all learn from each other!
One "plan" I have is to plant a Moon Garden of white and/or night blooming flowers. I've got a whole list made of plants I want to use... Moonflower (of course), white blooming Four o'clocks, and....
several others. My list is at home (I'm using the church office computer) and my mind just went blank as to what other plants I've listed
. Must be the cold weather
.
Here's a tip to check to see if the seeds you've saved from last year are still viable. Take 10 seeds and fold inside a moist paper towel. Keep the paper towel in a warm place, and make sure it stays moist- not drippy, just moist. Most seeds will sprout in a week to 10 days. Then do the math to get the percentage that sprouted. If 8 sprouted, that's 80%, etc. If less than 5 sprout, you might want to get fresh seeds. Or, at least be sure to plant extras to make up for the ones that won't sprout.
OK, time for this cold gardener to go home where it's warm and toasty and enjoy a cup of tea and make a few changes to my wish list
.
Please share a tidbit or two about your garden and post a comment so we can check it out!
Blessings,
Catherine
