Have you planted your bulbs yet? If not, it just may not be too late. I read in the BHG newsletter last week that if you can stick a shovel in the ground and still have 8 weeks of freezing temps., plant those bulbs! I don't have much experience with bulbs, we may only have 8 days of freezing temps. most of the time. This tip is for those of you who live in the more chilly areas.
But, even if you can't plant bulbs out in the garden for whatever reason, it's not too late to force some Paperwhites (Narcissus tazetta) indoors to brighten up the cold, dark days of winter. Here's a site with information on forcing Paperwhites- there are even photos to show you exactly how to plant them. Paperwhites should bloom in 2-4 weeks, so you possibly could have blooms by Christmas or New Year's Day!
I'm new to this too, though I plan to give it a try. If any of you are veteran bulb forcers, please share your experience, tips and advice with us!
Have a great gardening week!
Blessings,
