I bet some of you may have tried this before, but I just saw it on someone else's blog and thought I'd post it here. The back of our house faces the South so we can give it a try without worrying about how it looks as people drive by. I know I've read an article in Countryside that had a more complex version of this too.
If you've done something similar to this before, let us know what you did and how it worked for you.
