You all were so great sharing your ideas for taking care of a
sore throat! Now we have
a blogger looking for suggestions for dealing with Rheumatoid Arthritis naturally.
I found one interesting website -
www.holisitconline.com and looked over their page of
suggestions for RA.Maybe some of you all deal with RA or something similar and can offer her some encouragement, ideas or insight.
I've been dealing with chronic pain, fatigue, and weakened immune system (diagnosed fibromyalgia) so I've been on my own journey to find what would help me. For me, a big part of it is dietary - trying to eat cleaner - less processed foods and the such, more organics, natural body care products, lots of rest and sunshine. I know that Omega 3 is so important for joints so I LOVE having our own farm fresh eggs that are higher in Omega 3.
You all chime in here with your suggestions and encouragement!

Sep. 30, 2006 - Relief
I have chronic joint pain in my knee due to an old childhood injury. Instead of using creams or pills I use oatmeal, mint, and regular tea to put on the joint.
The amount of the ingredients used all depends on the areas you need to cover, adjust to your needs.
In a 2 quart saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to a rolling boil. Turn heat to low and add the tea and mint, allowing them to simmer for 5 minutes. Take off heat and add 1-2 cups plain oatmeal and stir until it is about the consistency of thin paste. Using a measuring cup, put 1 cup of the mixture into a cheese cloth, wringing out the excess water and apply to the joint, gently massaging it in small circles until you feel relief. (You can apply the "paste" directly to your joint if it's your hands or smaller area of the body.)
I use fresh peppermint since it grows so prolifically out here, but in times of need, extract is just as good. I'm not sure why this works, but I have a feeling it's a combination of the aromatherapy from the mint combined with the antioxidants of the tea that make the joints feel better as well as the heat from the mixture in general.
