Before we moved to our farm on the Dirt Road, the first thing I bought was a quality pair of rubber boots. They have been the best $16.97 I’ve spent on anything farm and homestead related.

I bought these boots made by "Northerner" at Tractor Supply 4+ years ago (Dirt & mud not included!)
What are some of the clothing and gear that many of you have found to be really good quality investments to make your job(s) easier? Rain gear (…this is one I really want to know about – I’ve yet to find good rain gear at an affordable price…..), winter coats, gloves – all around work clothes? Where do you buy from – catalogs, local retailers?
Share the equipment and clothing you couldn’t do without (or at least would rather not…).
Thanks,
Harriette

Sep. 13, 2006 - This is funny...
This year was the first year that I really committed to do a "little" gardening (herbs, flowerbed) and I plan to branch out a little further next year. Anyway, I just had no idea what sort of hand/gardening tools I would need. Well, our 18yodd opened her first checking account back in the early spring and her gift - which she didn't want and gave to ME - was a garden tool kit!! IT'S AWESOME!! It has everything I'd ever need for my little plots.
Isn't the Lord good?

Workgloves. I use them constantly. A good pair of well fitting leather faced gloves for working lumber, trees and thistles, soft completely leather for working with the horses, and cloth workgloves for dirt work. One can never have enough gloves!
