I'm on a homesteading group with Herrick Kimball and he just posted a link to his blog entry about his chicken tractors. I love, love, love using chicken tractors. They are such a great way to keep your chickens safe from predators, allow them to be on fresh grass daily, and easily move them (and let them fertillize your yard or garden!)
I'll have to post about the different chicken tractors we've had over the years, but until then, take a look at Herrick's very interesting and informative

I just received his book "Writings of a Deliberate Agrarian" and what an inspiring book. I live in a small apartment, but my daughter and her family are the "agrarians", so I am enjoying the fruits of their labor.
Aug. 13, 2006 - I LOVE the chicken tractor!
I\'ve been having trouble with my chickens due to preditors and dogs. I hate to keep them in a house, though. This is perfect!
Aug. 14, 2006 - I want one!
Guess I'll have to wait a while; but I tried to get dh to build me one when we were still in our rental home. Instead, my dear idealist engineering minded hubby designed the Chicken Castle ;) LOL! Needless to say, I suddenly decided I didn't really want chickens... Perhaps the girls and I could build one ourselves as a "school project".
