The stirrup hoe, sometimes called a scuffle hoe is my favorite for cultivating and keeping the weeds from getting out of hand. It is easy to use, just lightly pull it under the surface of the soil along your pathways and around your plants in the garden to loosen up the soil and kill the weeds that have germinated. Doing this several times during the season will keep those little weeds from growing into big trouble for you. It goes quite quickly and once you've gotten the feel of it, it's really very easy work. Nothing like chopping at those big old nasty weeds with a regular hoe!
I purchased my stirrup hoe at a yard sale for about fifty cents- quite a bargain in my opinion. Here are a few links with photos of the stirrup hoe, and ordering info. if you're not fortunate enough to find a great deal like I did:

Now that I've used and grown quite fond of my hoe, I would be willing to buy one new if I had to- after checking the yard sales and flea markets, that is!
Hope your gardens are flourishing and you are reaping a bountiful harvest!
