Do any of you raise pastured poultry? We just started last year on a very small scale. We did 25 chickens last year and this year we planned to do 50 chickens, however, we lost so many chickens that we eneded up with only 32. Ugh!
Nonetheless, what I was wondering was- how much do you all charge for your pastured poultry? Last year we charged $2.50/lb., but that really doesn't give us much profit. Yet, we live in a very rural area so people here aren't going to pay top dollar or anything. It gets kind of frustrating - we talked about just raising them for ourselves and not bothering with anyone else, but then again, we'd love to earn some income off of this farm of ours.
So, do any of you raise pastured poultry? Do you sell it or just use it for your own family? And if you sell it, how much do you charge?
