Some of you may have noticed that there haven't been much updating from Mulberry Lane and Branded for Him! I was called into duty on Monday to spend some time with the baby. They are SO overwhelmed with sickly lambs and mommas, bottle-fed lambs that when they finish with the group, it's time to start over again. Since they are all working as hard as they can, little Paige hasn't been getting much attention and began acting up. So, Gramma to the rescue! I spend the afternoon and evening with Paige, and also made supper. It certainly wasn't hard work, but it really helped the others out, as they could focus on their chores without feeling bad about not having much time for Paige. She thoroughly enjoyed having "mama" at her beck and call, lol. I felt so bad for Melissa and the girls as you could just see the exhaustion in their faces and there is nothing to be done to make their workload lighter. Steven is able to be home for a few days which will help tremendously. And I am "on call" if he gets called in to work, to go out and take care of Paige again. Which is something that I absolutely love doing! The lambs that are in the house are such sweeties. They soon learn that when someone walks past, that it might mean a feeding. They struggle to stand up and sometimes begin baaing for their human mommies to come take care of them. Just before I left Monday nite, I picked up a little dark brown one that had won my heart, to give him (her?) one last cuddle. He looked up at me and started sucking on my chin! That was one sloppy kiss!! Suddenly, I am getting a flurry of sewing jobs for the older people where I used to live. I go there on Tuesdays to teach a BIble study class, and leave with one or two jobs. I enjoy sewing and I like being able to help them out, as I charge them just a nominal fee. Well, I'm back to my spring cleaning. My living room looks SO nice, but you can hardly walk into my bedroom! That's where I'm starting now--to get rid of more "STUFF". I've been here about 1 1/2 years, and if I haven't used something during this time, it is getting either tossed or given away. It feels so good to become free of the clutter. Have a good week, all. Blessings, Mary Sunday Nite

Last night we finally had birthday parties for two of my grandkids! It was a beautiful day and I enjoyed every moment I got to spend with my family. Chelsea celebrated her 15th and Paige her 2nd. I also enjoyed holding and feeding baby lamb, Zolie. She was born on Friday and needed bottle feeding. Every time I picked her up she cuddled up to me and when I would put my head by hers, she would nuzzle up to me---ooooooooooooh, what a sweetie! I had made a small blanket and pillow for Paige with some really soft fuzzy material. The 3 older gals all took turns lying with it and loved the feel of it. Megan asked me to make her one as she too, loves really soft silky things. It's a major purchase because of the cost, but I'll think on it. At least I know it will be used by someone out there!! Today I had big plans to do some major reorganizing, but I had some severe pain in my left leg and ankle--not sure what caused that, but didn't want to aggravate it, so right now my place is in chaos, but I can live with it for a few days. Nice thing about living alone.
Well, I'm off to do dishes. Have to at least do that! Mary May you walk with the Lord today! For those that have left comments for me!!

May you walk with the Lord today!
Ok, now I told you I was new at this stuff! I just now figured out how to go back to see if there were comments on my blogs! I want to thank Helen, Sharon and Liz for taking the time to comment. And of course my family. You probably thought I was being a snob and not answering to your comments, and if so, I'm sorry. I'll have to spend more time here so I can figure out all the "Ins and Outs". Thank you for the discriptions of the different ingredients. I think I can figure out how to use your recipes, and if I have problems, I'll give a shout!
I have to get back to some crocheting. And I'm not feeling up to snuff tonight, kind of chilled and achey. But it's winter, so I can't be surprised lol!
Thanks for being patient with me, everyone! It takes this Old Dog awhile to learn these new tricks!
Mary Bautiful day!

May you walk with the Lord today! Hello all, The sun is magnificent today! Hopefully, it will continue to melt some of our snow. They say it may be possible that we could flood this spring. My apartment complex is next to a small creek which has risen enough to flood the first floor apartments in the past. That was before I moved here, so when I moved in, I insisted on a second floor apartment. But if it dows flood, they evacuate the entire building because of water and electrical problems. Thankfully, if that happens I have 2 daughters and a very good friend, so I wouldn't have to go to a church to stay for the duration, which is what happened in the past.
I'm working on some crocheting and need to do some basic housework, then have the day to relax. I need to get a clock workings, as I have a clock where it's hands were bent, and the whole casing just fell out. It's like a china plate with a hole in the middle for the clock stuff.
Hope you all have a wonderful day with many blessings! Mary After the storm

Well, we survived the storm. Actually this second bout wasn't that bad in town. At least, the plows got out quickly and did a good job. We have about a foot of snow around our apartment building. Sure is pretty in the sunlight.
I've been working on a Nancy Drew game on my computer. I got to the end, and somehow the culprit got away, and I couldn't figure out how to use the second chance to redo the ending. What a bummer!! At least I got all the way through it. Now I'm transferring my email addresses from Yahoo to my Outlook Express. I'm still working on my knitting and doing another small project (sorry, it's a surprise for someone!).
Guess I should get going and go down to get my mail. A quiet day around here. Hope you're all having a good weekend! Mary Another Storm????

Oh boy, another storm is forecasted starting tomorrow and going through Thursday! There are still thousands of people with no electricity and if this storm is as bad as our last one, it will be tough for many people. My best friend has been with me since Sunday afternoon and is going home tonight, but she may end up coming back again! I made a quick grocery run for milk, oranges and hot dogs. Many workers for the electric company from out of state have come here to help repair downed poles and wires. It is such a good feeling to see Americans reach out to help others. Sadly, I read in the paper of one such worker who fell from his boom truck and was killed. I hope wherever you are at that your weather is better for you! Have a good day! Mary Weather

In the last ten minutes the weather has gone from a light sprinkle of rain with lots of wind to about 5 minutes of small, but fierce hail and back to the sprinkles. It's 4:00 and our forecasted storm is beginning! With ice and planty of snow forecasted, the grocery store was packed this morning. I'm sure people getting off work are also there stocking up now. I'm glad I got myself going earlier today, so I can stay inside, warm and toasty, and not worry about going anywhere.
It may cancel my granddaughter's birthday party scheduled for tomorrow night, but she knows we'll have it as soon as we can.
Hope the weather is better in your neck of the woods! Mary Weather

If you've read Melissa's blogs, you know that Paige has been sick for some time. Today I got her on the phone, and it was so good to hear her little voice saying " I uv you, mama". She calls Missy, mom, and I'm mama. She nods when I ask her questions, and today she was showing me some things and seemed a little upset that I didn't respond. Missy said she just took her stuff and headed back to her sisters. Now my little Megan is ill. I hate it when they get sick, as I can only commiserate from a distance!
Katie, I loved the pictures of you and Ruthie! You really look comfortable in that position!!
Well, did some sewing for some people here where I live. The flu is going around my apartment building also. Last night I felt queasy when I went to bed, and today I'm better, but not perfect. We have some nasty weather heading our way for tomorrow through Sunday. Freezing rain, sleet, then possibly up to 12 inches of snow!! But no sense worrying, as many predicted storms end up going north or south of us. We'll just have to wait and see! But I am running to the grocery store tomorrow morning, just in case!
Time for bed for me. Nitey nite......... Grudda Enjoying the weather!

May you walk with the Lord today!
Hey all, It's a gorgeous day here! The sun is shining, no clouds in the sky and not too breezy. One of those days that tease you with a taste of spring
I've been practicing my knitting. Doing some better. I also got some pictures downloaded to send to my college roommate who I just 'found" a couple of years ago. She was such a good friend, and when I contacted her, I was a little afraid she wouldn't really remember me, and I shouldn't have worried. She said she thought about me often through the years and we have had such fun getting reacquainted! A good friend is something to be really grateful for, and realize it's one of God's greatest blessings (next to grandbabies, of course!).
I'm still working on getting my Bible marked for giving Bible studies. Takes time, but such a wonderful feeling of accomplishment. And it reaffirms one's faith, as you read the passages that are the basis of your faith!
Got a couple of sewing jobs to do, so will sign off for now. Have a great day! Mary Sunday, Sunday

Guess what! I didn't fall asleep watching the movie, I watched it for about 10 minutes and turned it off. It was crude and not a very good movie. It was "Snakes on a Plane" with Samuel L. Jackson. It was a bust as far as I was concerned. Instead I fell asleep watching HGTV.
Today I'm going to put stuff away, and relax later on. I have the crayon caddies finished, and that's a big weight off my mind. I don't like to have something to make for someone else hanging over my head.
I'm not sure what the temp outside is, but it's mostly calm with just a small breeze now and then. Kind of cloudy.
Time to get back to work! Have a great day! Mary Sat. nite

May you walk with the Lord today! Hello everyone, It's been awhile since I blogged, guess my life is pretty slow! I've been trying to straighten up my apartment. It was pretty good until tonight as I had spent the last 2 nights with a friend, and when I got home from church, everything just got set down with a path to get to the bedroom and bathroom.
Yesterday we had a beautiful snowfall. It started with the huge flakes then alternated with smaller dry flurries. I guess there were a few accidents on the roads around here. I don't like driving when the roads are bad, and the worrier in me wants to forbid my kids from driving in it too! They are in their thirties, and I still have to stop myself from calling and insisting they stay home.
I thought I had picked out the colors I wanted to paint in my apartment, but I keep changing my mind. I want to wait until I can open windows before I start, and it gives me too much time to think. Speaking of my apartment, there has been some things stolen around the building, and somehow, there has been some mild vandalism in the rec room. So, they are locking the rec room at night, and will be installing security cameras around the building. It's a security building, but I think some tenants let people in that shouldn't be in here. It's nothing terrible, but management wants to curtail things so they don't get any worse. Next week we're having a chili supper for the building. One of the guys is doing the chili, and I'm making cornbread. A simple supper, but a good one for these chilly winter evenings.
I'm trying to work with my newly diagnosed diabetes. I'm doing pretty good, but everyonce in awhile, my blood sugar does weird things. Tonight I fell asleep and didn't eat when I should have, and when I got supper started, I took a reading and it was high and I hadn't eaten anyting for about 7 hours! Oh well. It might have something to do with the fact I've had a headache most of the day which is unusual for me, so maybe I'm coming down with something. When I did eat, it didn't set too well with me.
Does anyone know anything about painting over old formica counters? I've heard there is something that will work, but I'm not sure what it was. I have very old fashioned yellow counters with a horrible avocado green linoleum in the small galley kitchen I have. The longer I live with it, the more I think up ways to fix it up some! I do have the landlords' ok to do my painting, and they will go for pretty much anything that upgrades it. I'm pretty good friends with the manager, so that helps.
Guess that's all I know for now. My cat and I are heading for the bedroom! I'm going to watch a movie, and will probably fall asleep and have to watch it again tomorrow.
Have a great evening, Mary Sat. nite

May you walk with the Lord today!
Well, this week was a blur. I tried to get out and get things done, and with the cold (BRRRR), it seemed to just take alot more out of me. I got up this morning hoping to get ready for church, and soon realized the slight sore throat I felt last night, had grown. I'm getting a little sniffly too, so guess I'm getting a cold. Yech!
I'm kind of flustered because I have too many things I want to finish. An afghan and winter hat for myself, 10 crayon caddies for a friend who sells them for me, a puzzle I've only got the outside done on, organizing all my diabetes info I've gotten here and there, get my walls painted throughout the apartment, rearrange the living room which I can't do until I paint, finish "marking" my Bible, which is marking verses for different topics, making some pillows and I'd better quit thinking--I'm getting frustrated just writing it all down! I'm determined to read the entire Bible this year, and I can honestly say this is the only project that relaxes me. Sometimes I find I've read much farther than the schedule, but that's ok. It's when I get behind that I get upset about.
At the end of the week I'm going to stay with a friend for a couple of days. She has company coming and when I've lived with her when I had medical problems our roles became that I cleaned and she did the heavier outside work. Even though I no longer live there, I still go out when she needs to get it straightened out. I don't mind, as I enjoy being in a more rural setting, and her little town is very peaceful. She had been such a good friend to me, that I don't think I'll ever repay her kindness just by cleaning once in a while. Her grandkids call me grandma too sometimes and that is fun. A few weeks ago I was there and one of her granddaughters came to stay overnight and when I went to my home after church she asked why I didn't move back because she liked having me there with her grandma. That was a nice thing to hear!
Well, I got a few things done, and my cat is lying on top of the recliner all curled up but with her eyes on me, just waiting for me to head for bed so she can come cuddle. I just started laughing because she looks silly, and she covered her eyes. Pets are so much fun!
Guess that's all for now. Mary Brrrrrr!

May you walk with the Lord today!
I just checked the weather channel to see what the temp was--it's 5 below with a high of 0 forecasted. The sun is shining and it's beautiful and sparkly outside. I have a few chores to do this week, and I was thinking of going today, but nothing is so pressing that I have to go today! By the forecast, if I wait until Friday it will be up to 12 above! Tomorrow I have to go out, so I may do a couple of things then.
The weekend was really nice. Spent time with the family and on Saturday night we all went to a friend's home to watch videos of their trip to Italy, Greece, and Egypt. The narration that Carm gave while viewing the video made it so much fun! He is a very funny guy and made it very entertaining. I spent Sunday making a "To Do" list, and then spent the day not doing any of it! lol It was a lazy day to read the paper and relax.
Today I am going to pick up a little and finish crocheting a scarf that is about 2/3 done. The cat is lying on my table in the sun, sound asleep. Don't think she'll be bothering me to play with her for awhile.
Have a good day, everyone! Grudda Boogie Looking Up

May you walk with the Lord today!
Howdeeee, I went to the doctor yesterday for a recheck on my diabetes. In six weeks with meds and diet, I lowered my cholesterol from 234 to 117!!! My doc and nurse were celebrating! Everything else looked good too. When I said I have had some trouble keeping to my diabetic diet completely, my doctor said he recently had an angioplasty and discovered if he didn't change his diet, he literally would die! He has to eat similarly to me, so was able to boost my confidence that I can do it. He agreed it is a real change, but a needed one. He is one year older than me, and we often commiserate about the downsides of getting old lol.
I got some wheat gluten and am going to try to make my own vegetarian meat that can be used as a chop, steak, strips or chumks similar to ground hamburger. I'll probably take it to church this Sabbath as we will be having a small potluck. I hope I like it, because the gal that sent the recipe says it is so much cheaper than buying premade vegetarian stuff, and it fits into my diet much better than beef or chicken.
My left knee is really hurting today. I must have twisted it or something. I'm using my walker as it takes a little stress off of my leg as opposed to just using my cane. It usually only needs a day or two of pampering until it goes back to jusy my usual level of pain.
So, off to my afternoon snack and crocheting. It has been snowing off and on this afternoon. Quite chilly outside, but the snow is so pretty--and even more pretty because I didn't have to go out today!
Take care everyone. Grudda Boogie aka Mary Getting my feet wet!

I hope to come in contact with fellow crafters and people dealing with diabetes. I thought I was coping with it and following my new diet needs, but the last few days I have deliberately sabatouged myself with food I shouldn't have. I resolve to do better, then find something irresistable that I shouldn't have. It will take some time to rid my home of these items, and I hate to throw away good food-----yes, I know that's an excuse, but figured I could slip that one by lol
Right now I am crocheting a scarf to match a hat I just finished. Also, I have a start on a ripple afghan that will eventually be for my bed. Also, I make crayon caddies that I sell at a friend's store, and she has "ordered" some more as her supply is getting low. So I have to get to work on them. When I can get my granddaughter to teach me how to display pictures on here, I'll show you what they look like. Very popular for stocking stuffers, going on trips, and handy for grandparents' to have on hand! I had a lady request one made with horses on the material. Still looking as the images have to be fairly small.
Gotta run for now! First Time

Hello, This is my first blog, so it may be rather uninteresting! I've spent the day trying to fix a problem on the computer, and reading the Sunday paper. I want to do some more work on this blog and new settings etc. I want to get this to my family so it's easier to keep in touch with each other.
I was supposted to go to Menards with a friend, but I think she is going to go tomorrow night instead. So, I'm just waiting to hear back from her. My cat, Markie, is mad because I'm not letting her sit on my lap. Once she gets settled, I can't move for awhile or she gets all hyper because I've disturbed her nap.
Well, I'll add more later. Blessings, Grudda Boogie |
