Both of these things I'm looking forward to learning more about. I cook a lot from scratch but not completly. So I have been searching out things and learning more. I know its not really that tough just need to take the steps in order to save money. So if anyone has any cookbook suggestions for me to look at let me know. I've had some Amish ones suggested to me and am in the process of finding those. As for the canning, well I need to get all the stuff for it and do that this summer and any other time I need, to make meals in a jar and such. I'm looking forward to that. Pretty much learning to make homemade foods convenient instead of buying things. I'm also looking for canning book suggestions. Unfortunatly at this time I can't go out and buy a bunch of things as my dh's job ends this week and we aren't sure where he's going from here yet. He's made calls, put in applications and all that stuff, just praying and waiting. Anyway if you have any suggestions on books feel free to let me know as I'm learning. |

I'm so behind in posting on here.
We've been fairly busy, getting ready for winter. Since the garden didn't fair too well we don't have to worry about that.
My husband will be putting a portable pig pen in that area. We are getting 2 pigs from my husbands sister. Not sure how we are paying for them unless he's going to strike up a deal.....LOL. But at least we'll have pork when that's taken care of. Hoping next fall but who knows I guess depends on how big they get and how fast.
Since its cold I"m going to go bake some cookies again. Choc. Chip ones have been requested but I'm going to make bars then some chewy cho coolies I found a recipe online for. I think I"m going to make some spice cookies again as those are my fave. Might make the house nice and toasty...lol

Well after the other day of my husband seening me sneak a carrot from the weed infested garden(it didn't fair well this yr. But better then last yr) anyway he asked me to make a stew.
Basically he wanted carrots, potatoes, onions, choice of meat(I picked rib steak meat) then just toss is altogether. So we'll see how yummy it is this evening. Waiting on the meat in the crockpot(I cheated, it makes it fall apart better if I make the meat in there.....lol)
