Well my egg dilema is solved. We have 2 female geese and one male. So far we just get one duck egg, except the other day I had 2 in there. So I am assuming I have at least 2 female ducks too...lol. I'll be glad when I can get them out of the barn and into their own area. Except I have no idea how or when that will happen. My husband is working a temp job right now thats 6 days a week @ about 70 hours. So he's not home much. The money will be good. But of course after this job we aren't sure what he'll be doing as there's nothing lined up. Something will come up. |

Ok Mom and I are fully confused. We've been getting Goose eggs since the 16th, as of today we have 12 of them. And 3 Duck eggs. Well mom got today's egg then when she went to add more hay for them there was yet another egg but MUCH larger. Left egg from today, middle egg was what we were saying were goose eggs, and the right egg was what we assumed was a duck egg. Does anyone have any idea or an idea where I can find out. The largest is also heavier then the others.
We have 3 geese, two of them are larger and yellow/white and are all up in your face,we assume they are both male as they are a bit more aggressive. And one darker goose that we assume is the female. We have 4 ducks, 1 yellow/white, 1 yellowish with black, 1 brown one and 1 black one with a greenish shine to the head. They were gotten from a straight run mix, so I have no idea what they are and can't get photos of them at this time, hopefully next month or so I can. |

Both of these things I'm looking forward to learning more about. I cook a lot from scratch but not completly. So I have been searching out things and learning more. I know its not really that tough just need to take the steps in order to save money. So if anyone has any cookbook suggestions for me to look at let me know. I've had some Amish ones suggested to me and am in the process of finding those. As for the canning, well I need to get all the stuff for it and do that this summer and any other time I need, to make meals in a jar and such. I'm looking forward to that. Pretty much learning to make homemade foods convenient instead of buying things. I'm also looking for canning book suggestions. Unfortunatly at this time I can't go out and buy a bunch of things as my dh's job ends this week and we aren't sure where he's going from here yet. He's made calls, put in applications and all that stuff, just praying and waiting. Anyway if you have any suggestions on books feel free to let me know as I'm learning. |
