Country Heart and Home

Mmm... I am a happy camper today!!

Usually every Thursday my grandparents come to visit, before my oldest catches the bus. They visit with the boys and I and they also bring me the coupons that they saved for me from their saturday paper.

They also  always bring the boys a treat, normally its potato chips, every once in a while its candy but mostly a bag of chips or a bag of pretzels, to my boys you could have given them the moon!! They get all kinds of excited when Maw Maw and Pap Pap bring them something!!

Well today in addition to the normal bag of chips that they bring,  they also brought me a treat... Country ham slices,and not just any ol country ham either, it's my Pap's country ham, Ham that he cured his self with a cure recipe that  belonged to I think his grandfather, and maybe was passed do to him but for sure it was passed from my Pap's grandfather to my Pap.  And it is really really good. Its the country ham I grew up on, its tradition and its wonderful!!!

Now what to do with those slices? There is not many only a few but you can guarantee they won't be wasted. I have several ideas rolling around in my head .....

 Mmm I can almost taste the ham and beans with fried potatoes, green onions and hot rolls, mmmm

Not that he will ever see this , at 71 he isn't the bit interested in Computers or anything remotely related to computers but Thanks Pap I can't wait to use my ham slices!!!
