Good Sunday MorningIt has been forever since i've been here! Things are just always so busy around here. Our goats and chickens are doing great. I've been selling eggs at our local farmers market this month. Every couple weeks i bring about 8 dozen in and get $10. Pretty good for our small town. We've started planting in our garden. Just need a few more seeds and we'll be done. I bought 2 baby ducks this week. They are Khaki camel . And i've been scrapbooking alot lately. It's nice to finally get some pictures done. Here's a few...
More picturesWe lost one of the babies, at church someone told me that's it's common with the first birth, i probably was her first. And the poor thing was a little smaller than the one still alive. I think i've looked right and it's a girl!! If not, oh well, but i think so. The name will be Angie if so. Here is the cutie!!
Ever touched a fresh egg??We took a walk out to the barn a few minutes ago to check on everyone before bed. The chickens were up roosting and one of them had their bottom facing us. Well i shined the light on her and there was an egg coming out!!! She was like 4 feet up in the air! I gasped and it plopped onto the ground. My husband went in to pick it up and it's totally soft!!! You can squeeze it and see through it with light shining on it. Totally cool. I never knew it!! Now i've seen a REALLY fresh egg!! We have babiesI was at cub scouts tonight and my husband called and said Oreo, the white one had her babies!!!!! They are about 3 hours old now, this pic was taken a while ago and my batteries died so i will get more tomorrow!!!
We got 3 more goats.....The black one is a male and the other 2 are very pregnant girls!!!! Just brought them home yesterday and will be getting places ready for them to have babies really soon, they look like they will bust!!!!
Howdy YallI am sitting here just finishing my grits and coffee. Then i'm out the back door to feed the animals in the barn and back in to get a lunch together and head to work. My husband left for his first day of college!! I'm so excited. In a year and a half he'll be done and will be working and making really good money so i can stay home!! woo hoo. It's been great having him home all day this past week, he's done lessons with austin and has torn down one of the old sheds behind the house. Maybe this year we can get the stuff cleaned up that i want gone. My garden is nice and disked up, just waiting on the tiller from my mom to go over it a little more and i'll be planting potatoes and english peas first!! Well, gotta scoot, I'm going to try to post some pics tonight! COLD TodayIt is 27 degrees right now. The ground is all frosted over. And i have to bundle up and go feed the animals in the barn. I heard the goats when i stepped out the back door to feed the dog and grab some woods to start fires. As soon as the house warms up a bit i'm going to get a shower and get some breakfast, Austin will be up by then and we'll get to school work. I need to ride to town today and go to the library for a certain book i would like to read. Wonderful WednesdayThis so far has been a wonderful wednesday. Austin and I did school work, i've started clothes to wash, fed all the animals and began a process to alter some roman shades. My chickens, despite the cold, are still laying eggs regularly. I imagine in a few months i'll be getting alot more out of them. I used 6 of them to make a pound cake the other day and it is yummy. Those fresh eggs are just wonderful. Well, off to get some more things done before Phillip gets up for work!! School's starting again! We are starting back into school work in the morning. He's had 2 weeks off and i'm being blessed with this coming week off, no pay but still a blessing to be able to stay home. So i'll get to spend the whole week doing school work with austin instead of checking it after work and studying it. Then after this week my husband will be starting school and can be home with Austin hopefully 3 days a week, we are praying he'll only have to drive to school 2 days a week. I'm so excited!!!! Found cool stuff at Hobby Lobby today!!!First is a sign that i might just leave up all year long on the mantel....
Next is a little pink tree, i love it, i'll decorate it next year and put it by the big tree, lol
Loving my time off!!!I've had this week off and probably will have next week off also, woo hoo. I've done a little scrapbooking which is nice. But there is so much more i need to get done. Sewing, cleaning, outside stuff. I pray i'll be motivated enough to get it done. Today i did my running around, groceries, paid bills, went to the cemetary and got the christmas stuff off and put out new flowers.
ChickensI keep getting 2 or 3 eggs a day from them. I think it's great since it's winter. I just wonder how long the eggs stay fresh and good after laid. Anyone know? We have heat!!!We have a hole in the wall, bricked and chimney and all, for a wood stove. Well we bought one and the pipes were all too tall. Finally today my husband and my cousin cut it down and shoved it in so we could use it and we've got a fire going!!!! I'm so excited. The smoke is going up up up out of the chimney now. Woo Hoo Morning YallWell it's been almost a week since my last post and i have now gotten 8 eggs out of my hens. Nothing out there this morning early but maybe later there will be. It's great!!!! Now that it's cold we'll have to see how much they'll keep laying. They are beautiful eggs that are gracing my fridge, lol. The goats are doing wonderful and the ducks still act like they are starving every single morning when i go out with their corn. I am about to get in the shower and get dressed warmly for church!!! It was 36 out this morning when i got up. That cold front stayed true. Finally an EGG!!!!I've had these 4 hens for a month and i finally got an egg this morning!!!
My Christmas flowerI got the bulb a while back and it has bloomed!!!
Pinecone OrnamentsI have been making these and still will be making a ton more for presents.
Our new goatsI know i said i'd do this sunday but it ended up i didn't have any time. We finally did the base boards in the living room and kitchen. So here are the goats, except white girl, haven't taken her picture yet.
Prissy is the dark one and Dude is the white one.
It seems like ages.....Since i last came here. I've got to make a point to do it more often. Especially now that i finally have some animals to show yall. I'm trying to get everything organized in my life, work, homeschool, cub scouts. I think it's coming together in a way that won't drive me crazy, LOL. I'll survive i'm sure!! After church i'll come post some pics of the new animals!!! Howdy!I just haven't had time to come here lately and update things. We will have a TON to do our here on the old homestead. When the weather cools off we are going to get most of it done. I'll be getting a new chicken pin so i can start buying chickens at the sale barn or at canton. I've talked with the people tha that have a produce stand in town on the weekends about selling eggs and they'd love to have them. Then we have some fence lines to clear out, not too too much in them but still need cleaned out. Today i'll be working on a corner in my yard under a crepe myrtle tree, nothing but clovers grow there, so i'm cutting it all out and putting down landscape cloth and mulch on top, in that corner i have a bench identical to the one out at my son's "yard" and a granite marker that use to be there with his picture on it and a nice saying. When i get the corner done i'll have to post a picture. I've been scrapbooking a little and mostly dealing with cub scouts now that i'm the cub master! We have meetings on mondays and this coming weekend is a mom and me campout. anywho, gotta get going so i can get my shower and get ready for church. I still have austin's shirts to iron. adios! { Last Page } { Page 1 of 4 } { Next Page } |
