Garden Log #3
I have over forty pumpkins on the vine right now. One of them is already the size of my fist. I am sorry to say, my first pumpkin (some of you may recall we named her Mavis) did not flourish. In fact she shriveled up entirely. Strangely, there is another pumpkin on this same plant and it looks like it might do the same.
Most of the pumpkins are short and wide, but this plant has produced two 1-inch long, narrow pumpkins (that die). I wonder what’s up with that?
My corn seems to be growing pretty fast, although I don’t see any ears. Should I? If it grows it grows; at this point I am just accepting whatever I get and chalking it up to experience (someone once said “People always call their mistakes experience”).
The green beans are slowly creeping up the corn stalks, but not growing anywhere else. I take that back; they are also growing where I planted the sunflowers (which, but the way are getting taller, but that’s about all the action I see going on in that corner).
I counted 24 tomatoes. That’s pretty good for two little plants (volunteers), right?
I really want to plant a fall garden, but things just haven’t worked out. I don’t have my raised beds, soil or seeds; essentially, I have nothing! LOL
Maybe there are some flowers I could plant (cheaply) in the front yard that would satisfy my urge to plant.

My summer garden is done. But my fall garden is starting to produce well. I still need to do some planting, but I have been short on energy!
