Getting things done
Friday was a busy day!
We started early, since David didn’t have to work.
A FRUGAL decorating tip: Since we rent, we can’t just go buy new cabinetry, and colors are limited to...um, white! LOL Painting pre-cut wood shapes adds interest and a splash of color to the white. They are just placed on the door and the handle screwed in to hold it in place. A nice, non-permanent solution! I think these were $.25 a piece (They'd work well for dresser pulls, too).
Another nice touch is curtains, as I am sure most homesteaders know! LOL I’ve seen people use handkerchiefs, old sheets, dishtowels and pillow cases; all of the above sewn and trimmed to look very nice! I am going to do that next week (I’ve lived here for five years and other that a valance over one window, there are no kitchen window treatments. It’s about time!
We are going to finish the below-counter cupboards-we’ll save the upper wall cupboards for another day. DH is going to hang my kitchen shelves, too. That way I can get my pots and pans out of the hard to reach cupboard they are currently stored in. I will use it to store my canning supplies, instead (I think).
We’ve been without transportation for two weeks. Our Expedition needs a new starter and/or flywheel. Our guy is supposed to be available next week, so I really look forward to that. My friends have been very helpful and my BIL has loaned us his truck a couple of times, but it will be nice to just decide to drive to the hardware store without a one-week plan!
I wish the camera had batteries…I would take pictures of my garden and the new look. Perhaps I’ll remember to buy some when we are out today (It’s that planning thing…).
Have a great weekend!

My dd just inherited her future mother in laws old home. She is in the process of fixing and redecorating it up. One of the things she is doing is to hang vintage napkins over the curtain rod as valances. I have used vintage tableclothes on my kitchen windows, and towels. I love repurposing things like that. It is hard to do things when you rent. I saw a tv show where they used starch to hang a piece of material on the wall. The starch acts as glue and you just pull it off when you move. I never tryed it tho. Anyway good luck with the decor-ing.
PS. I do not save the hides of my rabbits, i should tho.
