How my garden grows

{ 07:35 , Monday, August 7, 2006 } { Posted in Garden Tales } { 3 comments } { Link }

You know, I’ve noticed that others are not nearly as excited about my garden as I am.   Lately, friends and family look dazed if I start to talk about it.

I was out weeding this morning and I noticed the beginnings of blossoms on my pumpkin plants.  I am very excited about this because I was afraid maybe they wouldn’t bloom and subsequently would be barren.

Three times today I have brought it up and each time I get a look as if to say “Big deal.”  They are too kind to actually say it out loud, but I know what they are thinking and I am sorry for it!  LOL  I tend to go on and on; I am sure they begrudge the day I ever planted a seed.

I tried to vary my conversation a bit by talking about composting, but apparently that’s a non-starter as well.

“Did you know that you can buy a large composter at City Hall for twenty dollars?”

The universal response is a smothered yawn and uninterested grunt!

That is one of the many wonderful things about the Homestead Blog community.  I can babble on to my heart's content about snail bait, irrigation and Vermaculture.  If anyone is bored I never have to know.

And when you are enjoying your bounty from you garden all winter long....they will be standing at the grocery store buying their vegetables and etc!! I am with you!! I could go on and on about my garden, it feeds my family and the better I take care of it the better the harvest is!! Don't let others get you down!

I would greatly appriciate your prayers.
I love your posting about kids. For the longest time I thought J was following through on his word about things b/c he was afraid to lose me. Then I discovered it is a family trait! Even his parents are careful of what they say that they are going to do. Wow.
And I enjoy hearing about your garden. Congrats on your pumpkins!!!! Yes! *pumps fist* :P
I greatly enjoy your blog! I read something on "are you a good blogger?" and it says if you share information and advice, you are a good blogger. That = you! I've learned alot from your blog. Thank you for taking the time to share your life on the www!

Been there dearie ;) ! Just keep posting here, we LOVE to hear about your garden. At one time my SIL was almost afraid to visit our house because my dh kept making her taste the herbs- almost torture for a city girl like her! I'll be checking back to hear how your pumpkins turn out :)
