Oh, yeah. I wanted to share a yummy recipe.
My friend Cindee (Cindeerella) and I made Chili Sauce yesterday. It was wonderful. I had to go out and splurge on some breaded shrimp to dip in it! Yummy!
Chili Sauce
- 14# of tomatoes (or enough to make 1 gallon of juice after cooking)
- 4 Medium onions
- 2 Cups Sugar
- 2 Cups Vinegar
- 3 Tbls. + 1 tsp. Salt
- 2 tsp. Cinnamon
- 2 tsp. Dry Mustard
- 1 tsp. Curry Powder
- 1 tsp. Nutmeg
- 2 tsp. Chili Powder
Cook tomatoes and onions until soft. Run through sieve and reserve juice (should equal one gallon).
Add remaining ingredients and stir well. Cook down until desired consistancy (I think ours took about an hour?). Pour into pint jars and seal. Process in water bath for 5 minutes.
Should make about 8 pints.

The book on the counter is Dee Henderson's "The Marriage Wish". :) I read a lot, sometimes only when I nurse Samuel, but before I started reading, my mind would be thinking of all the things I needed to do, & I would try to unload the dishwasher with one arm and nurse my month-old, which doesn't work for me! It's my way to completely turn off my brain. :)
The book is in the kitchen, because I also read at times while I cook, it's hard for me to calm down and simply stir something, and I end up pacing the kitchen/getting out ingredients I don't need unless I'm talking to dh with my headset or reading. I get scattered! When people are over they think I'm focused, but that's b/c I'm thinking about THEM and not my cooking, lol.
I'm very interested in your sour-dough bread. I've been thinking about trying that, too. I have a "Little House Cookbook" and it has directions in there, but I find yours much simpler!!! Thanks for sharing!!
Blessings!
