Sunny Saturday...Hooray!
The snail bait is surrounding the garden and the corn has been inexpertly staked. I feel like the garden has become a salvage mission these days. Slugs eating things, corn planted too shallow that keeps flopping over, weird black bugs on the sunflowers and green beans that refused to grow.
I am going to try the green beans again. I know it’s late in the season for planting, but I feel determined to at least plant the seeds and get them to shoot up. Even if it bears no pods, I will have first hand knowledge of inoculation techniques!
My husband and I are enjoying the sunshine, painting things, and he’s going to help me plant some flowers I bought at our little Farmer’s market. He did ask why I bought weeds (they grow wild around here, but I don’t think anything I LIKE should be called a weed).
I think I have him talked into a raised bed for them, and the winter garden, because neither of us wants to muscle through another garden! Next year, as I have probably said 56 times, we rent a roto-tiller!
I am also going to attempt a few hay-bale plots; maybe something like lettuce. I thought about planting beets, but then imagined the struggle there’d be trying to remove bulbous roots from tightly packed hay bales. Not worth it! LOL
It’s now time to vacuum under the wall heater units so David can hang our new base-boards. It looks so much nicer!
Enjoy the weekend.
