Creatures, great and small
Animals are so peculiar. They all have their own little ways that amuse or infuriate.
My younger cat has a new routine these days. He comes in our room at about 5:30 am and instead of his former caterwauling, he crawls on the chest of who ever is laying on the left side of the bed and sleeps, making it difficult to breath and impossible to move. As soon as the alarm goes off, he jumps up and runs into the hallway. THEN he starts his obnoxious noise until we feed him.
This is a special treat (the sleeping not the "meow"ing) because our cats rarely deign to stop for a pet let alone climb on us and sleep. In fact, it’s a family practice to refuse to move if the cats are keeping us company when we sit. “I can’t move; there’s a cat on my lap.”
My older cat, Smokey, is so fat that he can not climb a fence. If he goes out the back door, the back door is where he must come in. This morning, my DH was still sleeping and I quietly let him out the French doors (our room). We have a mesh-wire fence and I left the kitchen door open but do you suppose he would climb over that fence and come in the back? My husband’s muttering and stomping indicates not!
My dog, Emma, is not a morning “person”. She absolutely refuses to get off the bed. I have to make it immediately when I get out or I will find her curled up, head on the pillow, body under the covers! Shame. The only thing that can get her up is if my DH makes kissy noises and says “Oh, Patti, I love you.” In falsetto. Weird dog.
The other day, I was telling my sister that story and I demonstrated; the funny thing came flying out of the room and jumped on the back of the couch barking wildly. She thinks she is the mistress of the house and it really irks her if I am getting unwarranted attention. She gets most of it, so I don’t know what she’s worried about.
My DH informed me that if I greeted him at the door, panting, wagging my tail and leaping with joy, I’d get attention, too!

That is so funny!!!! Our dog which we have only had for a few weeks now, is so spoiled already. I had to get up around 2:30 this morning and went back to bed to find his hinny curled up on my pillow. I told him he must be nuts. He spends most of his day in my ds bed tho. I quess he thought he could, well he guessed wrong lol. But they are so funny, and my cats, who are all outside cats, just had kittens and they are the most entertaining things.
