Random Ramblings...and a couple of questions

It seems that winter has settled in to my part of Texas...at least for this week.  I've only been outside to go to the mailbox and to the library.  I do not like cold, at all.  It is even too cold for my girly girls to venture out for longer than 5 minutes at a time.  Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, because the littlest Love has had a cold or some sort of upper respiratory thing; and it's easier to keep her indoors if the others are inside, too.

OK, I did have a couple of questions that maybe some of you can answer...

1.  I attempted to make sour kraut following the directions in Nourishing Traditions.  Instead of sour kraut I got something very icky smelling...rotten rather than fermented, I do believe.  ???  Help! 

The kimchi came out fine.  Well, at least it doesn't smell rotten...it is very "fragrant"; but my dh says it's good.  I'm not sure "good" is the word for it, but hey...he likes it! 

2.  Anyone here ever attempted to make their own cosmetics?  I mean things like powders, blush, etc. ???  Hints, tips, how-to's, recipes, anyone??? 

See what happens when it's too cold to garden?  I start thinking of other things to try...kimchi and homemade makeup, what a combo!  I did get a new Seed Savers catalog in the mail today...perhaps I should try growing some herbs to make cosmetics with...

Hey Catherine, and thank you so much for dropping by and leaving your comment. You are right, the pink is a bit difficult to read...ooops!
