Carnival of Homesteading #32

Hello and Welcome to the 32nd edition of the Carnival of Homesteading!

I'm calling this the Eclectic Edition, as we have lots of posts on all sorts of things; and I can't get the fonts cleaned up no matter what I do, so it looks rather "eclectic", too !   Please excuse my poor computer skills, and enjoy the goodies shared in this week's Carnival of Homesteading no matter how ridiculous it looks!

I was very excited to see these great submissions in my inbox yesterday.  Grab a cup of coffee, tea, or whatever you like best and enjoy the variety of thoughts shared by our friends.

 First we have,

Kris Price, the new Senior Editor on Homesteadblogger's Front Porch, challenges homesteaders to make a list of all the things that you do not know how to do, but want to know how to do. Or maybe you just need to find someone to help you do something better! Consider finding a mentor in your area to help you! Take some time in the next week to create a "wish list" of things to learn. Read her list and other thoughts in At Home with Kris - Stretching Ourselves.

Next,

My Learning Experience shares the 3 things she is most thankful for, her favorite cookie recipe, and scripture to tie them all in with Thankfulness, Mexican Cookies, and Scripture.

And,

Mommy Homemaker, from Where the Creek Meets the Lake, shares some fun she and her children, who wanted to host "another party", had when they all pitched in and bought some snacks with their own money and then invited the other family to bring their favorite snack and game and come celebrate the new year with them in her post, Hospitality Center..

Great idea:

$1.00- Wouldn't it be nice if that was ALL that adoption cost? There would probably be quite a few less children waiting for homes and quite a few more homes bursting with more children! Nancy, The Unlikely Homesteader, has a great idea to unite a little girl with a great family. Read about it in One Dollar Adoption..

In the homemade category:

Rebekah Shearer of Abundant Harvest Homestead is learning how to quilt. She invites you to tag along with her as she shares what she learns and invites you to join her in two weeks, January 24 th, as she post on helpful tools to get you started and basic terms to help you through your first small project just like she's learning in her quilting class. Read about it on The Front Porch : ***Begin At the Beginning Quilting*** .

Abundant Harvest Homestead  also has a great Tip of the Day to help keep your sink neat and tidy.

Have leftover cranberries from the holidays?  Check out From the HSB Front Porch:   Cranberries..not just for the holidays to put those nutritious little gems to good use.

Mama to 6 at Lovin our Large Family shares a recipe for  Homemade Furniture Polish.

Homestead Happenings  shares some nice photos of Handmade Soap.

Momma of Many at A Distinctly Different Homestead  has lots of great recipes for things homemade; such as these recipes for Homemade Maple Syrup .

Rebekah @ Abundant Harvest Homestead  makes pizza as easy as 1, 2,3 in
Pizza Dough, Pizza Dough 1 2 3  .

Jacque @ Seeking Rest in the Ancient Paths gives us a recipe for GOOT Garlic Oil Salve for What Ails You .

Christina @ The Perils of Parenting and Other Ponderings shows her handiwork with photos of More Aprons .

Grandma Rosie of Grandma Rosie's Texas Home shares some very helpful tips for a common household product in her post, Vinegar Uses.
She also has a wonderful just-in-time for winter health soup:
Restorative Roasted Garlic Soup…Boy this sounds good

 For the adventurous:

Laura Williams gives us some great pointers on foraging for wild foods in Foraging For Food – One woman’s basic guide to get you started.

And now some musings and words of wisdom:

Simple Folk shares her thoughts on a Cold, Cold Morning .

A Pondering Heart shares her thoughts about her goats in her post titled Goats, A Girl’s Best Friend.  "I was thinking last night that I really do like my goats… within the past year we’ve had some problems with them (keep their weight, stalls, fences, etc) and I have wanted to just give up …but after thinking about it, I don’t. I like the goats. There are a fun animal and worth the experience too, even if you don’t get any profit from them."

GrannyG @ GrannyG's Critters talks about her love of Old Buttons .

SisterLisa @ Apples of Gold Ministries shares her thoughts in Virtuously Busy .

Robin @ Heart of Wisdom gives us a challenge for the New Year:
2008 Resolution Challenge: Coffee with God.

And finally a contest,

Win a mixer at My Wooden Spoon by following the rules in the Win a Hamilton Beach® Stand Mixer Contest . The contest runs from Jan. 1st - 31st.

Thanks for visiting the Carnival of Homesteading, and I hope you will all join in next time!

Blessings,

Catherine

Nancy,
You're quite welcome, and now that I have your entry all in one spot it might make more sense LOL! I "thought" I had that corrected earlier, but I guess not...oh well.
Hugs,
Catherine
