Homestead Happenings

Spring is here, though you can't tell by the weather this week.  Last week was gorgeous, now it's "cool"- those of you who live where it really gets cold would laugh at my Texas thoughts about cold ;) ..... but, it's been in the 30's at night- not what I need for my new baby herb plants!  They're hanging out in my bedroom under a grow light for now.   

Spring Fever hit on Monday and we went to a local nursery and came home with new herbs.  This is what I got:

Lemon Balm

Lemon Verbena

Lemon Thyme (can you tell I love lemon?)

Apple Mint

Marjoram

Pineapple Sage

I absolutely cannot resist herbs, so of course, I bought more than I intended to.  I'll have to plant them in light containers so I can cart them around from spot to spot searching for sun!  It'll be worth it anyway.  Just think about that lovely sun tea with lemon balm, lemon verbena, applemint.....mmmmm.

If it warms up enough today I'm cleaning windows- oh joy.  I cleaned all the windows on the inside when we moved in, but the outsides are oh so grubby.  I'm tired of looking out at my little pots of herbs and flowers through the haze of dirt.  I imagine the neighbors will think I'm nutty, but what else is new?!?! 

I'm making Kefir today, and "planning" to finally make Mozzarella.  The mozzarella has been on the to do list for too long- so, today is the day, hopefully ;) !
