Potted Herbs

Since Gena asked.....AND they're hight on the list of  my "Favorite Things" ...

Here's what herbs I'm growing right now:

Bay

Chives

Rosemary

Marjoram

Thyme

Lemon Thyme

Spearmint

Viola

Myrtle

Lemongrass

All of these are growing in pots, most of them are indoors- except the Rosemary, Violas, and the Lemongrass (which is dormant and rather ugly right now).  Everything else was either zapped by our unexpected early ice storm or has been sacrificed to the compost pile due to our upcoming move.  I've already got spring fever though, and am making my list of  herbs to plant in our new home.  We won't have much space, so everything will be in pots on our teeny tiny back patio, or indoors.  I'll have to be creative, but I know I'll find plenty of space to grow all my favorite pets!  I love to pet the herbs and smell their delicious fragrances...MMMmmm!  Think I'll go smell the Rosemary now

I wish we were next door! I love those herbs! I can smell them Catherine! I still think of you every time I have to buy Bay leaves. It blows my mind that you grow them. I wonder if I could? I have never seen anyone grow them in this state. Hmm??!!

Petting the Herbs

I thought I was the only one who "petted" herbs!! Guess i am not as strange as I thought, or if I am at least I have good company!!
I think my all time favorite herb is Basil. I love the way it smells on the summer breeze. I like to pick big bunches and put them in vases like with flowers to make my house fragrant.
I love all the different mints, but I love spearmint most of all. I drink lots of cold mint teas in the summer.
A lot of my herbs are in pots. Anything that will hold soil gets planted in around here!

I think we're kindred spirits! I can't resist petting the plants, I love basil, and Spearmint tea is a favorite of mine, too!
