Catherine Love~ Ramblings from my Heart and Home | |
Tuesday Thoughts..."To commit our children to the care of irreligious people is to commit lambs to the superintendency of wolves." -Timothy Dwight, President of Yale 1795-1817 Oh how I would LOVE to plop that one right in the middle of the church! Since I'm the church secretary for the time being (at least until the 31st of this month because they've already paid me One of my friends just placed her youngest child in Pre-K. Monday was his first day of school. I could not believe that a parent would be expected to put a 4 year old on the school bus at 6:30 a.m., and not have this child back home until 4 something that afternoon! Sad but true. Poor little one had such a fit about not wanting to get on the bus on day 2 that it caused an asthma attack... Then my friend told me about the little Kindergarten child who was being "escorted" down the hall being held by one arm by his mother and the other arm by the teacher's aide, while he cried and lifted his feet... My heart breaks for these children. I am filling in as church secretary following the unexpected Calling Home of our friend and brother in Christ, Tom Fulgenzi. Though we did not know Tom long, he was dear to our family. He was a retired pastor and Christian school leader; and at 70 years old still served as church secretary. He was in our spiritual formation group and was planning to go with us to a leadership conference next month. As my husband said at his memorial service, Tom was "about His Father's business" right up until he went to be with the Lord. As a matter of fact, he passed away last Weds. evening after church- he was discussing "church business" with the pastor while the choir practiced one moment, the next he was with the Lord. We rejoice that he is now in Heaven. Well, I suppose I'll not put that quote in the bulletin...but it is tempting I hope to get some gardening done this weekend. I'm ready to plant a few fall things, and repot some of the container plants. I purchased some plastic pots made of recycled materials this Spring- I think they came from Wal-Mart. I do not like those things! For one, the colors faded to an icky "browny pinky" ,as my girls would say, color; and most importantly, they have built-in saucers that hold water and end up smelling awful (that may be from our water and/or compost tea). Every time I water those pots it smells like a sewer OK, I've rambled and ranted enough for one morning. I'm off to check on my girly girls and get us all ready to go to work.
