Ramblings on a Summer Afternoon...

It is definitely a summer afternoon in the heart of Texas!  The cracks in the soil are proof of that.  I'd post a photo, but it's too hot to go back out and take one

My girls have invented another "game"....spraying water on the trampoline and attempting some very lame attempts at what I can only guess are figure skating jumps .  They recently watched Ice Princess- thanks to grandma dear, and now have an intense desire to ice skate....there's nowhere  to ice skate around here.  The closest ice rink is 70 miles away, and our van has no A/C these days .  It died the first part of August, of course.  Silly girls are hoping the lake will freeze in winter so they can skate!  Not a chance, I've assured them.

I'm planning to make yogurt this afternoon.  I had quite an adventure when I went out to the shed to get the milk for it, too.  My dear husband got a "deal" on a big, old chest freezer from a "friend of a friend".  It won't fit in the house, so it's been relegated to the shed; which is also home to the riding mower, tiller, tools, garden equipment, a ton of toys in "toy jail", other assorted junk, and some cast-off church furnishings that no one has hauled away.  FULL, is what I'm getting at here.

Anyway, after I picked my way through the obstacle course  to the freezer, I lifted the heavy lid, and had to sort of lean sideways and s-t-r-e-t-c-h over the mower and way down into the almost empty freezer to retrieve the gallon of milk.......Surprise, Surprise, the lid came down and smacked me in the back.   I'm not so very tall, and I was tiptoeing as it was.   When I tried to get out of the jaws of the Deadly Deep Freeze I realized  I was trapped by my own hair, and unable to get free.   I  was leaning on my hair,  and every time I tried to move I pulled my hair!!!  Oh, good grief.....I did manage to extract myself from the jaws of the Deadly Deep Freeze with the gallon of milk, and most of my hair intact.

Now I'm waiting for the milk to thaw, and myself to cool off after almost getting put in "cold storage" .  I didn't really want this freezer, and now I really, really don't like it!  It would be nice to fill it with goodies from the garden; but either someone else will have to be in charge of putting things in and taking them out, or I'm going to need a hair net, step stool and a pole to hold that monster's jaws open!  Anybody want to buy a deep freeze?????

You sure do know how to sell a freezer. You had me in stitches here. I had to read your ramblings to my dh cause he wanted to know why I was laughing. At least you got what you went out there for and the DEEP FREEZE Monster didn't eat it all up.
