Flooding in our AreaIt is raining, raining, raining around here. It is almost unbelievable to see any rain at all in my part of Texas this close to July. We normally are having HOT weather, and very little if any rain. Well, the LORD has blessed us with cool temperatures this year, and lots and lots of water. There has been considerable flooding in nearby areas, including the area we moved from just about a year and a half ago. Our local newspaper has a photo journal of some of the flooded spots from yesterday. More rain is falling as I type, so I know there is more flooding in store for those who live near the lakes, rivers, and creeks in the area. Please say a prayer for those in harm's way, those who have property damage, and those brave souls who are doing the rescue missions to remove people from flooded areas. When I was a little girl (that's been a few years), the fire department sent men to escort my grandmother and us 5 grandchildren through the water surrounding her home to dry ground. It was NOT something I would want to go through again! My dear Grandmother was not happy that they came and made us leave Strangely enough, my husband's Grandmother also lived in a flood zone, and after we were married they sent ,a helicopter in to take her and my husband's uncle, who was in a wheelchair, out of their home during a time of flooding. She also wasn't happy about being "rescued" and gave them quite a hard time about having to leave. She said she did enjoy the helicopter ride, however I certainly haven't had to worry about watering the garden! Blessings, Catherine
