Ramblings of a mad woman

 This is shaping up to be an interesting week already.  It is hot, surprise, surprise....this is Texas, so I should expect that one.  Other than the to be expected warm temperatures, things are also heating up for me- it's VBS week.  I was going to be a "helper"; you know the nice ladies who sit in the class and assist the teachers if they need someone to run an errand, soothe an upset child, or something like that.  Not anymore.  I found out yesterday afternoon that instead of "helper", I get to be the "teacher"; rather, coach- our VBS has a sports theme this year.  OK .  Normally this wouldn't be a big deal, I've taught VBS plenty of times and I can usually handle working under pressure.  I must be getting old or something , because the idea of getting this first lesson prepared, room decorated, and myself in coach mode has just frazzled my brain.  I am without a doubt not sports minded, so this is definitely going to be a stretch.  I couldn't even find a baseball cap in this house! 

To top it all off, when the girls and I were walking back home after my rather lame attempt at transforming my Sunday School classroom into a locker room- I turned my ankle.  I was walking down the front path, can you imagine what would happen if I actually attempted to run ? 

I know the Lord is having fun with this one.  Today's focus is on "True Heroes obey God even when it's not easy"! 

OK, so if you feel some pity for the non-sporty mama, married to the associate pastor, which compels her to always say YES when asked to do something at church, who would much rather be a helper than a hero today.....PRAY for me!  It's fine if you laugh, if I couldn't laugh at myself I'd really be a nut!

I'm off to find some chamomile tea and lavender to sniff.....hopefully I'll be back later this week to tell you about the baby bunny under the porch, the 30 pounds of plums my girls picked which I now have to find time to make jelly with, and learning to can peaches....if I don't break a limb on my trek back to VBS!

praying that your foot will miraculously heal and that the Lord will bring you peace and strength to do what is needed of you for the precious children that will be attending VBS. Know that He is Lord and that He does not give you anything you can't handle.
Follow His lead.

I just survived a week of VBS myself so I can sympathize. We aren't even members of the church and only know a few families there so I was a bit out of my comfort zone there too. I started out planning on just "hanging around" and offering an extra set of hands in my 5 year old's class, but I ended up basically being an assistant teacher when other people didn't show.
