Another Use for Prunings from the Crape Myrtle Bush....

SWITCHES!!!

 That's exactly the look on my children's faces when I came back in from cutting a nice "switchy" branch.    I didn't actually have to use the switch; just the sight of it quickly ended their foolishness and got them back to folding laundry . 

From one who remembers all too well, even 30 something years later:  Pomegranate branches are the worst(best if you aren't the one getting switched, I guess).   Grandma used to make me cut my own .

Yup. My parents used willow switches. Hardly ever did they touch us but going to get the switch and the impending doom was enough to make us behave.

Pomegranite? YUM! We pay $3 for one around here! Imagine having them grow in your yard. Sigh!
