Simplicity

I like these quotes from Celebration of Discipline by Richard Foster.

Simplicity is freedom.  Duplicity is bondage.

Simplicity brings joy and balance.  Duplicity brings anxiety and fear. 

Because many of us are experiencing the liberation God brings through simplicity we are once again singing an old Shaker hymn:

'Tis the gift to be simple,

'Tis the gift to be free,

'Tis the gift to come down where you ought to be,

And when we find ourselves in the place just right,

'Twill be in the valley of love and delight.

I LOVE the simple life!

It IS good to live a simple life. Less stress. Isn't funny how all those things that have been created to give for 'free' time and really just filled it up with stress? How does that happen?

Maybe the Amish have a good point: One of the reasons they keep using horse and buggies is because they want to retain close family and community - so they keep it so that they CAN'T go very far, very fast. But us - we have nice cars that take us so many places, relatively far away and fast.

Hmmm...good blog subject.
