Rain, Rain, Rain

ugh!!!

I'm getting a bit weary of all this rain.  I'm ready to garden; but we've not been able to get anything done.  The Lord seems to feel the need to send showers every weekend, as well as today.  I told my husband perhaps He's trying to tell us something.......  I don't know, all I know is that I have no garden!!!!!

I do, however, have 20 tomato plants in desperate need of planting somewhere.  The young man who has been mowing for us brought us 2 trays of tomato seedlings last week!  There are several varieties that I haven't grown before, so I guess this will be an  experimental year for us.  I'm quite tempted to plant them all in bushel baskets this week.  My husband isn't very impressed with this idea....Perhaps he's envisioning those 20 baskets all lined up in the yard....

I also have seeds I'm dying to plant.  A friend sent me seeds for Cypress vine, Lemon Basil, Calendula, PickleBush Cucumber, and Four O'clocks.  Of course, I can go ahead and start those in small pots, at least.

Yesterday, the girls transplanted our 2 container tomatoes- Patio and Husky Red.  The Husky Red has tiny blooms already!

With the crazy weather, it's hard to know what to do.  We had 4 inches of snow on Easter!  Amazing.  Our neighbors already had much of their garden planted.  I just knew that their tomatoes, peppers, peas etc. were goners.  But, yesterday he told me that all they lost were a few peas!  Even the Bluebonnets that were completely covered by snow look just beautiful.

OK, enough whining about my garden woes ... I think I'll go gathering the seed starting materials and plant a few seeds.  If I'm very quiet I might just get one or two planted before the children discover me and take over all my fun!

Go ahead and pot up a few tomatoes. It will make you feel better! I love cypress vine. Be sure and save your seeds from it this year! It rained here today also. Came up out of nowhere and poured. But I have had enough time in between weird weather to get some planting done.

Patience, patience! :-)

You're not alone, surely!

Many, many, many of us are feeling the same...

I am anxious to get outside and plant the strawberries my MIL brought over (they too are in desperate need right now, as they're only cuttings in "blocks" of earth right now, sitting in an old store box on newspaper!)... and seeds... and suchlike!

But, we'll get our time! Our growing will come... we only need to be patient and accept the weather the Lord sends in the meantime! Surely there is a blessing in it somewhere!

Carrie
