Gardening Dreams....The Moon Garden

9:07 AM, Wednesday, January 24, 2007 .. Posted in Organic Gardening .. 3 comments .. Link

Last week I posted about my garden planning and dreaming and my plan for a Moon Garden.  Of course, in the midst of posting my mind went absolutely blank and I couldn't for the life of me remember which plants I'd picked.  My memory isn't what it used to be, that's for sure.  Probably caused by some chemical filled food- I've been reading Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon- oh my, more changes coming to the Love household I'm afraid

Anyway, the catalog that I was dreaming in is from Select Seeds.  Wonderful "wish book"!  I went back through and here are the plants I've highlighted as possibilities for  the Moon Garden:

Moonflower

Feverfew 'Virgo'

Four O'Clock 'Alba'

Garden Heliotrope

Pink-Clove 'Mrs. Sinkins'

Sweet Rocket-White

Tobacco 'Bella'

Tobacco 'Jasmine'

Sweet Scabious 'Snowmaiden'

Everlasting Pea 'White Pearl'

Candytuft 'White Pinnacle'

Cosmos 'Psyche White'

Love-in-a-Mist 'Miss Jekyll Alba'

Foxglove-White

Hollyhock-White

Muskmallow 'Alba'

Tuberose 'The Pearl'

...that's quite a few things to choose from, I'd say!  Obviously I'll not be ordering all of these.  We've pretty much decided to plant the Moon Garden in the beds we'll be building around the deck.  That way we can sit out in the evenings and enjoy the sights and smells easily.   It will also contain some herbs, and probably a veggie or two...we'll see.

Any of you have a Moon Garden?  If so, please tell me which plants you like the best!

If it all goes according to plan, you should have a lovely garden. Good luck with it.

Hey Catherine,
Something else you might want to consider is the flower called, Angel Trumpet. It's sometimes called Moon flower too, so it may be the one you already have listed. I think it's botanical name is Datura. I've also heard that people plant silvery leaved plants like Lamb's Ear and some of the Artemesias in a Moon Garden. My sister had one called Silver Queen.

I never even heard of Moon Garden. My interest is piqued. I must go look this up!
