Catherine Love~ Ramblings from my Heart and Home | |
We're Moved InWe got moved in to our new "homestead" last weekend. After a week things are slowly beginning to resemble a home. Still have lots to do, of course, but it's coming together. It's been surprisingly quiet here and very peaceful so far. I haven't gotten to meet many of the neighbors yet, but the ones I've met in the breezeway all seem very friendly.
On a slightly sad note, my apartment is on the north side of the building, which means we get virtually NO sunlight. Not good for growing things :( ... guess I'll learn about shade loving plants! I do have a grow light inside for my indoor herbs. Carl is considering building some sort of shelf for the herbs and light. Maybe I'll study hydroponics and grow some herbs in water! Anyone every tried that???
I'll get some pics posted sometime.....hopefully soon.
Our church commissioned us yesterday and blessed us with a time of fellowship and a "pounding" after church. They are a wonderful group of people, and have helped us so much with our move. I now have a full pantry, also. Some of the things are not things we normally eat (jello, manwich, white sugar, etc.), BUT we will give thanks and use them anyway! They also presented us with a beautiful red blanket. One of the ministers said that when he was in Indonesia they commissioned a missionary and when doing so they gave her a red blanket- to remind her of the blood Jesus shed- for her and for those she was to minister to. It was very special and there were some shed tears as he was talking. So, now that we are "officially on mission", I need to begin seeking ways to meet the neighbors. We did have a little boy follow us home from the playground last week! Maybe next time I'll get to say Hi to his Mom....seemed very odd that she let him wander off with a strange lady and her 3 girls (as I was trying very hard to discourage him, too).
OK, I've got more boxes to empty and find a place for the contents. More purging coming soon! Leave a Comment { Last Page } { Page 338 of 358 } { Next Page } |
