Catherine Love~ Ramblings from my Heart and Home

I HATE Being Sick!!!

I have a cold....maybe the flu(please, please not the dreaded flu).  I have all the symptoms of flu, except fever- which I'd just as soon not have, either.

I hate being sick, and am a terrible patient I'm afraid.

I'm using my favorite herbal and home remedies:

Steam with Rosemary, Eucalyptus, and Peppermint essential oils (I'm out of Thyme oil).

Salt water gargle (ick).  Think I may need to switch to Tea Tree oil.

Garlic, Vitamin C, and zinc

Chicken soup with parsley, onions, carrots, and ginger

Tea with lots of honey and lemon

OK, what am I forgetting???  I'm ready to feel better- now!!!

Told you I was a terrible sick person.

I seldom get sick, but have been eating way too much sugar (sugar is poison, Dalyn says)...she's right.  I read recently that sugar reduces your immunity... Time to rid the cupboard of that junk and buy lots of raw honey!

I'm finished whining for a while...please do share your own natural and home remedies with me.  I promise not to take them all at once!

I'm going to have a cup of tea, with honey not sugar, heat up my rice bag, and take a nap on the sofa .  Maybe I'll look through a few seed catalogs when I wake up.   My sweet daughter, Sarah, cleaned the kitchen including a mountain of dirty dishes,  took down all the Christmas decorations and the tree and put them away for me.  Bless her heart!  Sick Mommy can rest!

Oh Catherine! I'm sorry that you're feeling so poorly. I'll be praying for you. Do you keep Slippery Elm powder on hand by any chance. (if you don't, you should ;-) ) I like to add it to the hot honey and lemon to help soothe the throat. Also, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the honey and lemon. You want the heat to be drawn to the throat area to promote healing. Cayenne also acts as a catalyst to stimulate the body's natural defenses.

I think you pretty much have things covered. All you need now is someone waiting on you hand and foot. That always helps, not that we ever get it tho. lol
Feel better soon.

It has been my experience that if I add a whole bulb of sliced garlic to chicken soup I can kiss my cold goodbye... ;-)
