Catherine Love~ Ramblings from my Heart and Home

Apron Strings

Did you see my apron in my picture?  It is a treasure.  When my great-aunt Rosa knew that she was soon going to be with her Lord, she and her daughter began going through her things and sharing her "earthly treasures" with family (and friends I suppose).  She gave my oldest daughter Sarah an old baby doll, and some other toys she thought she might like.

I don't remember what else she gave us, nothing of much monetary value to be sure; but she thought I might like an apron....  It isn't a thing of beauty to look at, that's for sure.  It is quite "vintage" I do believe; and I actually like it.  It has brought some raised some eyebrows from those who aren't used to seeing me in my "uniform", though!

But, every time I tie it on, I think of a sweet, sweet Christian lady who always had a smile and an encouraging word.  I also remember one who "finished the race well", who at the end of her 90 something years, was so ready and joyful to go to her eternal home.  A blessed example of a life lived well.

So now, I wear my apron prayerfully, hoping that I will also leave such a legacy of Love to my own family; and be as good an example as this dear lady was to me.

My girls like to wear my apron, too- so it gets shared among the 4 of us.  You often hear "It's MY turn to wear the apron!"  I have plans to make us all matching aprons; yet, somehow I know that this will always be THE apron that ties us all together.

Thanks for sharing that sweet story and reminding of the legacy we pass to our children. My sister made my 2 daughters and I matching aprons for Christmas. We are so excited about them.

Beautiful apron

Thank you for sharing about your special apron. I too have a few precious treasure aprons and even posted pictures of them on my blog. It really is quite special when you wear an apron with such love "in the ties"! What a beautiful gift you will be able to pass down to your girls!
