It's Almost Cold...

I can hardly believe it, but it really is quite cool outside today.  It's pretty windy, too- so I think I'll be staying inside and cooking .

There's just something about that first really cool day of fall that makes me want to cook something like beef stew, chili, chicken and dumplings...comfort food!  It rained last night, so it's rather wet and cold.  OK, cold to this Texas mama- it's about 50 degrees outside !  Just so you know, anything below 68 is cold to me .  I am definitely not cut out for snow country! 

It's been way too long since I've baked bread, so I think I'll add that to the to-do list.  Nothing like the fragrance of bread baking in the oven to warm the heart . 

OK, tell me...

What do you cook on the first "Cold Weather Day"???  I'd be thrilled if you'd share your recipes, too!

Stews, Chowders, Roasts, and french fries with gravy. Comfort food is for cool weather!
