2 Camping Trips in 2 Weekends, Oh MY!!!!

Well, I'm back- finally!  Yep, 2 camping trips one weekend after the other, whew!!! 

First we went to the beach.  That was fun.  Camping on the beach was interesting, windy, very windy; but fun!  We kept seeing these little "jellyfish things" washed up on the beach.  I inadvertently stepped on a couple and "popped" them, ick.  When we visited the Texas State Aquarium we discovered they were Portugese Man of War!!!  Good Grief!  Thankfully, no one was stung.  We collected lots of beachy stuff- shells, shells & more shells, a crab, sea beans, etc.  

Last weekend we went to the lake.  Weird, very weird; but also fun.  I say weird because "the inlaws" camped with us- my father-in-law, mother-in-law, and "ex-step-mother-in law" .  The three of them not only shared a tent, but stayed up ALL NIGHT yakking about old times!  Oh my goodness!  My husband and I couldn't help but hear every word- though we were really wishing we didn't!   They had the MOST bizarre conversations about everyone's life history, and other strange stuff like guns, all sorts of guns, cars, cars and more cars, everyone and everything it seemed.  It was one of those "you would have had to been there" things- my husband said he really wished he'd had a tape recorder.  It was a hoot!   Several times I had to stuff my blanket over my mouth to keep from bursting out in laughter.  I was really praying that the family camped next to us couldn't hear them.  Since the sheriff's department never showed up looking for the AK47 and the Bazookas, I can only guess the couldn't!   When I finally dozed off from sheer exhaustion (holding in the laughter can be exercise), the littlest Love poked her head into our tent with those all too frequent words: "I HAVE TO GO TO THE BATHROOM!!!!"  They've only been camping twice- the beach and now the lake, so there was  no "go behind a tree" for these ladies!   Not a chance.   The bathroom was NOT withing walking distance, so yep- up before the sunrise, driving to the potty ! 

The grandparents took the girls on their first fishing trip, too.  The little ones both caught a couple of perch.  They were so proud!  Can't wait to see the photos .  Nana took them home and said she was cooking them for dinner!  Hmmmm....glad I get the photos, not sure I'd want to eat perch.  Fried catfish, no problem....perch I'm not so sure about. 

My camping adventures are done for at least a little while.  Maybe I can get a little rest now .

in-laws. We get together for my dd's birthday and they just have a grand time. It just amazes me how everyone gets along. It first was uncomfortable, but everyone minded their p's and q's.
