The Glory of Gardening...

That's what I've been doing this morning- digging in the dirt and having a blast!   The girls had to come and help of course.  One of the maintenance men at the apt. complex came by and said, "Everyone gets involved, huh?"  Of course!  Who wouldn't want to play in the dirt and pet the herbs???   Even the neighbor kids always want to help water when they're outside.  Gardening is addictive! 

 I gave all the mints a little pinch, hopefully now they'll begin to branch out a bit instead of being lllooonnnnggg and  leggy.  I planted a large terracotta pot with basil.  It will sprout and grow quickly in this heat.  I can't wait to have basil, fresh tomatoes, foccacia,  and homemade mozzarella...MMMMmmm!  My tomato plant still only has one lonely tomato, so I suppose I'll have to depend on the CSA for my tomato crop this year.  I'm planning on visiting the farmer's market on Thursday, also.

 Sarah planted coffee beans today.  We bought them at Wal-Mart a few weeks ago.  Never grown coffee, but it will be fun to try. 

OH, and we have baby birds in one of the gourd birdhouses!  So cute!  They are wrens.  There are two babies, and the mommy and daddy fly back and forth all day long bringing them goodies to eat.  They're just starting to poke their little heads out of the hole in the birdhouse.  I'll try to get some pictures of them if I can. 

OK...time to make lunch and work on the inside stuff for a while- I'd much rather be outside playing in the dirt.
