Lavender for the Laundry

Posted in Homekeeping Helps

I spent some time working in the laundry area yesterday.  As I said in my Front Porch post yesterday, I'm trying to learn to love the laundry!

I spent the afternoon mixing up some nice smelling things to help me.

Here's what I made:

2 gallons of liquid laundry soap, scented with Lavender, Geranium & Lemon essential oils

1 gallon of Lavender-scented vinegar for softening

1 spray bottle of Lavender linen spray

1 lavender dryer sachet

Today I plan to stitch up a cute little clothespin bag, and then all I'll need is a sunny day!  That's not happening this weekend, so I will just hang my clothes inside to dry. The lavender scent and extra moisture the drying clothes put in the air will be nice, too.

Have a great weekend!

That sounds so nice. I usually put eucalyptus in mine, but it doesn't have a "nice" smell, just a clean?? smell. I think I'll try the lavender. How do you make the linen spray?

For the linen spray, I just put about 10 drops of Lavender essential oil into a little bottle of distilled water. Very simple!
