Posted in Blog Carnivals

Welcome to the June 8, 2009 edition of The Homesteading Carnival.

We have a variety of topics for this edition, so jump right in and enjoy reading what these bloggers have to share this week!

I loved this first entry, such great memories and what a wonderful legacy she was left and is now sharing!

Penny Sue presents Happy Remembrance posted at Faith Ridge Homestead -.

And as much as I've always thought I'd like to have dairy goats, this post reminds me of the reality of the work as well as the benefits of such a venture.

Lara DeHaven presents Having a Dairy at Home posted at Texas Homesteader, saying, "If you have ever been interested in raising your own milk goats, then this article might be just what you need to make your decision."

HSB Suzanne presents ::God is Good! - Making Butter...:: posted at God is Good!Another benefit of having a dairy...homemade butter!

Stephanie presents We'll be Having Mushrooms for Dinner posted at Stop the Ride! Those look very good, though I'm not ready for picking wild mushrooms, just yet!

Mrs.P presents Green Bean Harvest posted at Handmade at the Farm -  So many green beans!  Great photos, too.  Makes my little bean patch look....well, little!

2 Pennies Earned presents Backyard Gardening: Will I Save Money by Growing My Own Food? posted at Two Pennies EarnedI've often wondered about that; but for me it's such fun, I would do it anyway!

Sahara Reins presents How to Make Hard Boiled Eggs posted at Fowl VisionsSahara says this is the way to make perfect hard boiled eggs.  I wonder how long I should cook them for soft-boiled?  I usually "guesstimate" and you know what happens when you do that.....

Here are a couple of fun crafts to make:

Make it from Scratch presents Firsts on the First - Making a Purse from Jean Legs posted at Make It From Scratch.

Abi presents Fishing with dad posted at lighter side, saying, "make a fishing pole out of a soda can."

Great list of frugal tips:

Silicon Valley Blogger presents 55 Best Ways To Save Money: Frugal Ideas From Our Readers posted at The Digerati Life

You can learn all about those stars you see in the summer sky by checking this one out:

Margaret Garcia presents 100 Amazing Online Tools to Learn About Outer Space posted at Photography Colleges.

"Food for thought for Moms":

Emma presents What is your child eating? posted at Baby-Log.

Book review for those raising boys:

Kakie presents Book Review: Raising Cain: Protecting the Emotional Life of Boys posted at Bur Bur & Friends: Community Park, saying, "This book review delves into the state of raising boys in todays socieity and how we can give them the tools for emotional literacy that will help them thrive."

Doing some redecorating or remodeling of the homestead?  Learn all about shutters here:

Julian Pollock presents The History of Shutters - From Marble and Straw Mats to Metal and Poly-Wood Slats | TheHistoryOf.net posted at The History Of - Blog, saying, "More and more households bordering the traditional hurricane and tornado territories are looking for sustainable or eco-friendly storm protection as our weather's irregularity increases by the year. There are eco-friendly options to choose from including forest-saving poly-wood. One can also obtain door and window shutters made of FSC sustainable wood."

Hmm...not sure what to think about this tip, but I'll give it a try...my hair is slowly fading to gray !

Aparna presents Rubbing nails cures hair loss? posted at Beauty and Personality Grooming, saying, "rubbing the nails of both the hands can reduce hair fall and give you dense, thick and strong hair. Moreover, it can also prevent graying of hair,"

And last but not least, this post was my favorite this week, so funny!   I love tip #2, and put into use often.  However, it can cause a problem for those  who feel the oven is "only for cooking"!

GP presents A Housewife on Steroids « Manely Montana posted at Manely Montana, saying, "Managing it all. just another day at the inn"
