frugality

Another glorious sunshining day!

I have limited myself to an hour on-line, which at this time I am 34 minutes OVER!  So I will make this short.

I just want to say how inspired my friend Patti has made me to be more frugal with our money.  http://www.homesteadblogger.com/CollinsCountry/

A lot of times we spend on such frivolous stuff!  We waste on eating out.
We also commit to things that cost money, or agree to do something, that while it may be a blessing to someone else, is may be hurting the financial health of our family.  I think it is important to weigh what is more important.  Find ways to bless someone that doesn't cost money, but maybe our time and effort instead.

Stop using credit cards!  This is important: If you can't afford to pay cash, then you can't afford it.  We had to learn this the hard way.
The only exception to debt would be a home loan, and car loans, as long as you can afford the monthly payments and they aren't causing you to not pay other bills.
Anyway, I could go on and on, but I am learning to really stop and think about what I am spending my money on.  Can I afford it?  Is it really something I LOVE?  Do we NEED it?
One of the BEST ways to save money is in the food department, and the best way to save is to plan your menus in advance and STICK to the list!
Also less driving.  Our gas is 3.49-3.79 a gallon, so a lot of money is saved when NOT driving!

OK, I better stop, I can go on and on.  Anyway, I am just talking myself into being a better steward of my money.  I encourage everyone else to also.

Oh I agree!! Wesley (my husband) and I try to follow those rules, too. We don't even own a credit card that I know of. Do you read much of Dave Ramsey's stuff?

This is my problem area too!

This past 2 years I have been working very hard on being a better steward of all the resources we have been given ~ please continue to talk about it ~ it keeps all of us motivated!

Don't you just love this sunshine!! Yay!!

Wise words, my sister. We have learned a lot of these lessons the hard way too!

Blessings!

I am so glad I inspire someone! How exciting (I hope it's not because you see our ridiculous situation and think "Dear Lord, don't let us live like that!" LOL :)

In turn, your support continues to fuel MY determination to grab hold of the rope that God throws down and haul our behinds out of this mess!

Just stopping by to say Hello!

I agree 100% - we all need to cut back and not want such frivolity in our lives - isn't it amazing between now and when we were all growing up? - "the stuff", etc.

Great post!
Blessings to you and your family,
