Mmmmm
Mmmmm!
I made a boiled dinner today.
I let it boil on top of our wood stove all day.
It was soooo good!
What was in it - ham, garden carrots, and garden potatoes.
We had homemade, wholegrain rolls and fried dough (doughdodgers) to go along with it.
We will be having cinnamon rolls with glaze for snack time tonight.
It was the taste of the change of the season.
It's time to change the menu over to cold weather food.

Cooking Omlets
My husband loves eggs!
His favorite are omlets.
Whatever is on hand becomes part of the omlet.
I love to take advantage of his love for eggs by
making sure that he eats his veggies!
Here are some ideas of things to add to your omlets:
sausage, ham, turkey, pepperoni, salami, venison, beef,
(I think you get the picture concerning meat! LOL)
any type of cheese, (our favorite is mozzarella)
onions, peppers - sweet or hot, hot pepper seeds, broccoli,
cauliflower, tomatoes, fried potatoes. and on and on and on!
Are you hungry yet?
The truth is, I don't like eggs very much, but it does make a
happy hubby!
Quick, Easy, and Healthy Breakfast
1/2 cup of olive oil
1/2 cup of honey
Bring to a boil on the stove top.
Add (about) 6 cups of uncooked oatmeal.
Serve as you would regular cereal.
Options to add:
raisins
nuts
coconut
We like to add a box of Wheaties.
Sometimes I make an "apple crisp" topping
to add to it.
butter, brown sugar, and oatmeal mixture
cook on stove top
This makes a Honey Bunches of Oats type of cereal.
Looking for Some Easy Ways to Start Eating Healthier
Okay, so we all want to cook and eat healthier, but where should
a person start?
First, decide that whatever choices you make, you will not go back
on. I tell my family all of the time, "We will not go backwards!"
Start buying unbleached flour instead of bleached. Yes, it is a
little more expensive, but it's worth it.
I went from paying between 79 and 99 cents to $1.49 to $1.69.
The easy part is that you don't have to go to a special store to
get it. You can pick it up at your regular grocery store.
Switch from margarine to butter!
Again, you can pick it up at your regular grocery store.
Kids hate oatmeal no matter how many times you tell them
that it's good for them?
Throw a 1/2 cup into the blender, turn it on "crumb", and add
it to your regular pancake mix. Add it to your normal bread recipe.
Add it to your favorite cookie mix.
Start using olive oil and honey.
There is no need to look for new recipes. Just start adding the healthier
stuff to your already loved recipes.
Your family won't even realize that they are eating healthier! LOL
