THE WORD OF GOD SERIES BY CANDY FOOTE
Beef
Have you ever read about the things they do to the meat you are consuming before it reaches you?!?
Boy, I have! I'm almost sorry that I have!
I love it when we butcher our own beef. The problem is we need more meat long before the next bull is ready to butcher.
Not only that, but the prices that the grocery stores charge now can be down right scary.
We have decided to start buying our beef from a local butcher when we run out of our home grown meat.
It is cheaper, healthier, and tastier!
I guess you can't beat that.

Hey There!
Thanks, once again, for commenting on my blog. We really like the flaxseed in our bread. It gives it a sweet, somewhat nutty taste. Almost like a sweet whole wheat, and it allows you bread to stay light, fluffy and rise to a good height.
Hope you enjoy!

I'm afraid to read about all the junk that goes into the food we consume....I try real hard to make most things from scratch and using natural foods and organic...but unfortunately, I cannot do it all....but I guess what we do know we can work with that...and try to make healthier choices.
Thanks for the great post.

We are hoping to have some land soon, specifically to grow our own food all though we won't be butchering it ourselves.
I am loving reading your blog!!

I know exactly what you mean, we by organic for that reason - I just have to use beans and pasta to stretch it BECAUSE of the costs.
Hey, I added you to my friends, if that's okay.
Let me know,
God Bless,
Annie

I know what you mean about meat prices AND what goes on "in the process." My hubby grew up on a cattle and hog farm...whenever we're at a restaurant and some snooty waiter becomes a little indignant that he can't talk us out of ordering our meat well-done, my hubby says, "I grew up on a farm, it you knew what they eat and how they live, you would order YOURS well-done, too!" HA!
Fortunately, our small-town IGA buys their beef and chicken from a local semi-organic farm and we get most of our there. We are seriously considering buying a large freezer for our garage and going in w/another family and sharing a butchered, processed cow.

Just got beef!
I just picked up beef and pork from a local organic farm. All our beef is grass-fed. This is the 2nd order of beef and 3rd order of pork. I am so glad to have it.
Blessings,
Jennie

I am currently buying organic beef at Target, but am looking for a local butcher. There not easy to find around here!

Have you considered hunting?
Most of our meat is venison and elk - it is good and good for you too.
