Clean Toilet!
`Okay, here's a subject nobody wants to talk about! Keeping the toilet clean is a challenge. Not due to lack of flushing, but because of it!! We have the dreaded hard water! Ugh! I hate using harsh chemicals to clean it, but nothing else seemed to work. Well, I finally gave Borax a try. After all, I always have it on hand to make laundry and dish soap. It worked! I mean it REALLY worked! I poured some in and brushed it right back off. No waiting time at all! The toilet came out sparkling clean!
Hey, what are your great ideas? I would love to hear your cleaning ideas!

bleach in the toilet
I also have the dreaded hard water. I usually pour a little bleach into the toilet and swish it around, then let is sit a few minutes before flushing. Works pretty well and it's cheap!

I have hard water too and will give borax a try. I have tile flooring in a large portion of the downstairs. I have never had tile before and have noticed the grout getting dingy, any suggestions on how to get that grout clean?

I have borax on hand to make laundry soap - I'll have to try this!!!
I read your entry about grating soap - BLECK! Once I was grating it and took off some of my skin and my dh was nearby. Now *he* grates the soap - much faster than I can and without losing as much skin. He willingly grates 12 bars at a time and I use some and store the rest in a gallon jar. I only as him to do this a couple of times a year (since our family is still quite small!) and he doesn't mind.
Well, I was just stopping by to say "hi" and wanted to share that, lol!

Candy, I used to have a small housecleaning business when my daughter was younger. I learned that a pumice stone, which can be obtained at most larger hardware stores is very good for getting hard water stains off porcelain. (They are also good for cleaning outdoor grills.) Just be sure to only use the pumice on porcelain. It will scratch plastic. Blessings from the Big Sky Country......Denise (prairiemom)
