Call To The Wall | |
Improving health with my personal trainerMy energy level has improved greatly since I am no longer on high blood pressure and thyroid meds. The Lord is really gracious to me considering how much abuse I have given my body with binge eating and being diabetic. I's started walking with my personal trainer, Abby, my rescue minature schnauzer. I call her my personal trainer because she gets me out of bed every morning between 6 and 7 A.M. and pushes me out the door. We drive to the park where she tracks stuff ... rabbits, birds, squirrels, moles, deer ... and I hang on to the leash. The grass has been tall and both picked up some deer ticks. It has really been hopping around here the last couple of days. I don't know why her frontline didn't repel them this month. I wish they would make frontline for people too. Then we come home, she eats, and my husband takes her for their walk. She should get paid a grand fee as personal tainer for two people but she is satified with a little dried dog food and purina and a few tastes of everything I eat. The part I hate is that she then sleeps on the sofa while I have to continue on and do housework. Grrrr! I guess she switches to her role as guard dog because she does manage to wake up and bark at everything that lands in the parking lot out side our front windows. My family gave me a wonderful mother's day/birthday gift this year. A Wii-Fit. I turned 67 on my birthday. The first time I tried Wii-Fit at my daughter's house to see if I could get on it without breaking it. My Wii-Fit age was 73. I guess they decided they better get me the Wii for my present before I got any older. When I first got on my Wii, my fit age was 71. My Wii Sports age was 80. Game of tennis anyone? A week later, after walking a few minutes every day with my personal trainer, I got up enough nerve to try the Wii again. Happy days! I had gained weight! But they said my new Wii-Fit age was 55. That's 12 years younger than my real age! About ten days passed and I got back on board today. It seems my Wii-Fit age continues to be 55 but I have now gained almost 4 pounds than when I first started. They asked me why I thought I had gained weight seeing as my goal was to lose weight? Then they gave a list of reasons why I might think I had gained weight. Reasons like "Eating too much." Nah! "Snacking too much." Nah, that couldn't be it either. "Not enough exercise." Of course that can't be it. They didn't have the reason I think I have gained weight. I was going to say that I have gained 4 pounds in muscle mass but that wasn't one of the options so I marked "digestive problems" meaning, hey, I am hypothyroid who is currently not on meds. But they said my digestive problems would clear up if I just ate more fiber. LOL! No way is that the problem. I ate so much fiber I had to take Gas-X last week. I praise the Lord even if I did gain weight because I am having the time of my life with my little personal trainer. The honeysuckles are smelling wonderful early in the morning and the deer are beautiful when they dash across the field. Now I find myself in bed at nights praying that God will help the deer not be miserable with deer ticks. If anyone has any remedy other than frontline and off for deer ticks let me know.
