No new dog

We had a Great Pyaranees on trial here last week but things dod not go well.
Our current Pyrs was not happy. The new dog "Rufus" wanted tot ake over and I think they both got the best of each other. Back to the pound he went. He had another family waiting to hear if things didn't work out with us. So now we are considering a puppy. All the work and all the fussing. But I know the children wil enjoy having a little one around here since they grow so quickly.

On another note: Do you gring yoru own wheat? We do and today I attempted to make some Flax seed whole wheat bread. The last couple of times I was very intent and followed the instructions. Today, however, I messed up the one thing you NEVER want to mess up. I put the flax into the grinder instead of the blender and it about killed my machine. The thiogn completely died.  Fortunetly my dh was able to fix it so we are up and running again. I was in a state of panic wondering what I was going to do without my grinder. This is the only source of flour we use. We use freshly ground flour for just about everything. This includes pancakes, waffles, cakes and ofcourse bread.

I will be sure to be more alert next time I need ground flour. Although I did find a nicer mill I would have loved to have owned but I am very thankful that this one is still up and running.

This weekend I plan on organizing indoors, starting on the closets and the kitchen cabinets. My hope is to be ready for spring and venture outdoors more. That will be a challenge as I am such a homebody!

Hmmmmmmmmmm.........

It seems that I have been a bit neglectful in keeping this blog up.
I shall try my hardest to find something .........anything to write about.
At presant we are "checking out" a new pound puppy. Actually it is a 4 - 5 year old Great Pyranees doggie that dh picked up at the pound. I am a bit concerned that he will want to eat our chickens  and nip at our goats. He has already  caused a stir with our current  guard dog. She is the greatest. We haven't lost an animal to coyotees since she has been around.
So here's hoping the new pouch works out. If not I will break down and do what I said I would never, ever do again. Yep, I  will say ok to a puppy. shhh.. don't tell my family I am thinking about it or they may find one and bring it home.

Signing off until the new year ... perhaps

BoydsCreekAcres

Here I am on Boyds Creek Acres and wanting to be a farmergirl so badly.

I am so a homebody that getting outside somedays is a challenge. I have to force myself to get outside. This probably goes back to my childhood where my mom believed that girls were raised at home. And that meant in the house a good portion of the time. She was ever so careful about the kinds of children we hung out with,  which is the other reason we stayed indoors a lot.

So, I am willing and very able to make the changes necessary to be a farmergirl. I love the idea of it. I love the way things were done in the good ole days. I love the thought of canning our own food, and tending to a garden. I want to make my own soap and have milk from our own milking goats that my children will milk. : ) The desire is definetly there I just need a good push out the door.

I am so thankful that the Lord has placed so many adventerous and outdoorsy type women in my life. I need them! I need their advice and their support.

I'll be reading here more than writing. So you guys go ahead and write and I'll go ahead and read. I'll keep you all posted on my outdoor farming adventures as they take place.

Right now the farm is quiet. The chickens have been wandering outside the fence to look for worms. We are getting about 4 eggs a day and we had two hatch recently.  We are raising a new puppy to put in with our current Great Pyaranees. He's a mix, all white and we are hopeful that he will learn from our current guard dog, Sadie. We only have two pygmy goats and  perhaps this spring we will find some milking goats. That's all for now!
