My Grandbaby, bread and a mouse!

Posted in On The Homefront

I have so enjoyed spending the last two days with my daughter and new grandbaby.  Molly has stepped into this mommy role wonderfully and I'm so proud of her.  I'm really going to enjoy this phase of my life - I feel like a very lucky grandma!

Back to child care today and my first blast of reality was that I didn't have any bread!  Now...when you have a house full of little children and no bread that is a recipe for disaster!  I started the bread at 5:00 am and had two loaves done by 8:00ish!  Oh how I love my bread machine!

Oh my gosh.....I'm sitting here writing this and I see one of my cats walking toward the house....with something gray and fat in her mouth!  I think she's putting it on the porch just for me - how sweet (yikes).  I better go get it before the parents start arriving to pick up the children - never a dull moment around here!

Good Morning!

Posted in On The Homefront

A new week to start fresh!  We had a beautiful two days - back to rain today but the weekend was mild and helped to dry the garden area a bit.  I'm so anxious to get things in the ground but I know better than to try to plant here too soon - two more weeks before I can put those seedlings in the ground.

Sunday I made a pork roast - it wasn't the best cut but there is enough left for tonight.  I think I'll make roasted potatoes and some broccoli to go with.  I have plenty of cornbread left so I'll add that too.

And on a sad note....
Yesterday I had to put my beloved dog and best buddy of 13 years, Envee down.  A week ago she started having heart problems.  We tried different medications, etc. but nothing was working.  Yesterday I saw that she had lost weight and there was no joy in her eyes at all -- I just didn't want to see that she wasn't going to get better.  She was such a blessing to me...I will miss her.

Happy Friday!

Posted in On The Homefront

Friday is finally here!  This has been a long week - but I think I feel like that every Friday! LOL

My daughter has still not delivered that grandbaby of mine!  I told her to tell him that Grammie would buy him a pony if he would come out but the little stinker is warm and cozy and in no hurry.

My plan this weekend was to get some seeds in the ground but I think I'll be holding off another week or so - the temps are suppose to get really low with possible snow showers on Saturday.  I just can't believe how this cold weather is holding on.  This will just make me appreciate the sun more when it does peek out!

Hope you all have a wonderful Friday!
Blessings, J
