A couple of frugal tips...
I read a couple of great tips this morning - more ways to stay frugal.
TRANSPORT-A-CAKE. I couldn't afford one of those "fancy" $8 cake savers for transporting cakes, so I just went to the dollar store and bought the biggest plastic bowl I could find with a lid. I set the cake on the lid with a little frosting under the cake to hold it in place and then frosted it, and now I have an airtight cover by using the bowl over it!
Pizza or Baking Stone. Baking pizza and bread on stone produces excellent results. Now you can spend $200 for a HearthKit stone insert for your oven, or fork over $70 for the FibraMent baking stone. Or, you can take about $5 to your local floor tile or home improvement center and buy unglazed quarry (terracotta) tiles, which will do a fine job. You can completely cover the shelves of your oven with tile and just leave it that way for all uses, or use one 16-inch square for bread and pizza. At less than $2 a tile you’ll save a lot of dough.

Thank yo for the reminder. I have really wanted one of those great hearth kits, but no way I'll spend that much on it. I'm just too cheap.
I had read somewhere way back when about using the tile that way for the same results. I seem to recall it being somehow different for electric ranges, but I'm renewed in searching out if it will work with electric or not now. Either way, the new kitchen will have propane appliances and I know it will work then!
Thank you!!!

WOW!!! Thanks for that great tips.
I want to try the tile, Is it safe for baking foods on. I can't think of any risk but was just wondering about the safety of using a tile. Like chemicals that might be in the stone.I am dumb about those kind of things.
Thanks for sharing your frugal tips here, they are very helpful.

I'm guessing it's safe but I don't really know. I'm assuming that is why it says unglazed? I'll have to do some checking on it.

I love the tile idea! If too many people find out, it might put Pampered Chef out of business!
